Australia is a vast country, a continent really, which meant that flying helicopters commercially took me repeatedly away from my family, for many weeks at a time.
A change of career was on the cards.
Air traffic control is a challenging and responsible task, and I enjoyed every minute of it, in particular my time at the School of Air Traffic Control as instructor with the Royal Australian Air Force.
Health reasons finally forced me into semi-retirement.
